Ringing in the New Year in the Forest

I had so much fun this New Year's Eve! Normally the evening is actually quite boring for me. Brock, my autistic son, doesn't change his routine, so he is in bed by 8:15. My husband isn't one to celebrate either. So I just do my own thing..................... can anyone say B - O - R - I - N - G?!?!?!

This year I was excited when earlier in the day, Darlene, one of my forest friends, suggested we have a Virtual Cardmaking event as we awaiting the midnight hour. I eagerly anticipated the 8:00 (EST) hour so we could begin.

There was a different hostess for each hour of the four hours of the Virtual Cardmaking event. As soon as the hour arrived, she would post her theme and we had an hour to create and post a picture in the What To Do In the Forest card swap thread. There were several who participated. It was great fun!!!

Darlene was the first hostess. She challenged us with MEMORIES! We were to think of someone in our lives (past or present) and create something that reminded us of them. My grandfather was such a joy in my life. He would take me to town for ice cream when I was visiting, or sometimes we made homemade ice cream together.... so I created an Ice Cream card in his memory.

LJ was the next to hostess our event. She chose the theme Roses, Red, Football.......... hmmmmmmmmmmm.... wonder where she was going with that theme? Woo Hoo! LJ's Badgers are playing in the Rose Bowl!

Not having any football stamps... nor roses stamps... I had to dig into my designer paper stash looking for roses. It was a stretch, but i was able to get the card made with even a few minutes to spare.

Sam's Challenge was to be inspired by a piece of designer paper when making a card. At first I didn't quite understand her challenge, then realized I was just making it too difficult. Thanks to Sam, I was able to plunge in and create a snowy card.

Our final hostess was Lauren, who was creating with us from Australia! She wanted us to use BLING - beads, glitter, sparkles, etc. I love all those things, but don't use them very well. They seem to be a real struggle for me. So I went simple. I used a strip of that red sticky tape to create a row of glitter and I used Stickles.

Oh, and the paper - Cinderella at the stroke of midnight - is an actual page from an old children's Cinderella book.

I want to thank all of my forest friends.... you've made not just my New Year's Eve, but my life so much more fun! I'm glad you are my friends!
