Happy Birthday, America!

My son Brock and I had planned to celebrate the birth of our nation with a picnic at the park in our new town, but it's raining, so here's Brock, enjoying his picnic at the kitchen table. LOL!

Happy Birthday, America!

In case you wonder where I've been, let me tell you... it is a lot of work to move. Tee Hee! I do love to move, though, so it's all good.

Here's a picture of our new home:

We moved in 6 days ago, and I'm making progress in the unpacking. Most rooms inside the house are up and functional, though each room still has a few boxes to be unpacked and put away.

This house is much MUCH smaller than our previous home (half the size, in fact) so there is no room for my crafting space. My husband and I looked at things creatively and decided to take one bay of the two-car garage and line it with shelves (we have lots of those, due to the downsizing of our online book business). This area will become my Cubbyhole, perfect for stamping except in the most cold spells. It will also provide space for storing our many many boxes of Christmas decorations. Tee Hee!

I must admit, I am a bit overwhelmed with that task though,

since this is what it currently looks like:

Everywhere you look in the entire 2-car garage, there are boxes and shelves sitting every which way. What a job this is going to be!!!

And just so you won't think that's the way the entire house looks (me-oh-my!), here is my office area of the living room (a work in progress, but much tidier than the garage/Cubbyhole area).

Okay, I must get back to my task of unpacking. EEK! So much to do, so little time. I want to get things finished and my Cubbyhole set up, so I can start stamping again.

See you soon!

  1. Well, it looks like Brock is making the best of this rainy day, and enjoying a nice picnic just the same! Your new house looks very nice, and I bet you'll have a great little crafty cubby fixed up soon, and be stamping and creating like nobody's business!! Glad you're making headway with all that unpacking! Thinking of you and missing you!

    Love ya,
    Lorie

  2. Well J: It looks like Brock is making the most out of the rainy day. As for what your future Cubbyhole looks like now, eek! But just think of the payoff after the hard work you will put into it!
One day at a time, slow & steady, be sure to rest too. Hugs.

  3. Wowzers, what a vision you have to make half of the garage into your "Cubbyhole"!!

Can't wait to see it when finished!

  4. Oh my, what a sweet smiling face he has! I love him!!! I do believe that's the first time I've seen Mr Brock :) Wow, so much work ahead of you but you are a go-getter - if I know you, you'll have the place unpacked and organized faster than we can say Merry Christmas! Sure wish I could give you a hand - or at least bring you a Frap to rev it up! x0x0

  5. Thanks for the pix of your sweet Brock and the new house! I'm sure you'll have it organized just the way you want it soon. With a house half the size of the previous one I'm wondering how you'll use all the Christmas decorations?!!
