This week's treasure looks like this:
I purchased this shirt at a yard sale last summer. It was quite ragged in places, not suitable for wearing, but it had interesting buttons and I thought surely I could find a use for them. They are those vintage sorts of buttons that are creamy on one side and almost metallic on the other. I always called them mother of pearl, but I'm not sure what their official name is. Unfortunately, I removed them before I remembered to take the picture, so the buttons aren't on the shirt in the picture. Silly me!
Here's the card I created with this treasure:
You probably noticed the tab at the bottom of the card. YES! That was from the shirt. You know the kind... the sleeves roll up and can be held in place with the tab and button. Well, I took a pair of scissors and clipped that tab right off the shirt and adhered it to my card.
Here's a closer look:
I did something VERY unusual with this card! I didn't use any designer paper! I looked and looked in my stash, but all the designer papers I had seemed to overpower that cloth tab... and I didn't want that to happen. So instead I used a piece of Metallic Jade paper.
You probably also noticed that I didn't use my Copic markers. EEK!!! There's actually a very good reason for that. The image was given to me quite some time ago, and I didn't think it was stamped with Memento ink, so I was afraid to use Copics on it for fear it would smear. Therefore, I used my Prismacolor Colored Pencils instead.
And soon, it will be time for the hunt to begin again. Spring is just around the corner. But for now, I will still be using things I found in last year's hunt.
