KitCats Get Creative!

Note: I have two posts today... this one and a Crafty Ho Challenge card that can be found in the next post.

This is KitCat Sunday!!!

The first Sunday of each month, the five of us kittens create something special for you. Kelly was our hostess this month and me-oh-my! I wish you could have seen the kit she sent us. It was over-the-top creative, fun, and brimming with goodies!!!

She challenged us to think creatively - no cards this month. No! We are making gift tins with an ornament inside. How fun is that?!?!?!?

Now, before you look at my pictures, let me make this disclaimer... this is the FIRST time I've ever tried doing anything like this before. It was not easy and I really did try my best. I'm sure the other kittens will wonder about that... and I'm sure their's are much more creative than mine... but I had SO MUCH FUN with this project, even if it isn't as creative as it should be.

Here goes... here is my altered tin:

and here is the ornament (well, one side of it anyway):

Here is the other side of the ornament:

I didn't quite know what to do with the inside of my tin, so I went with very simple:

Be sure to check out the wonderful creations posted by the other kittens:

Merry Christmas!

Here are just some of the supplies Kelly sent our way (which were used in this presentation): designer papers (My Mind's Eye, DCWV, etc), Stampin' UP! buttons, glitter glue, rhinestones, glitter brads, felt snowflakes, poinsettia flowers, and of course the tin container and wooden star ornament. I added a little bit of cardstock (Stampin' UP! Cherry Cobbler and Pear Pizzazz) and used a sentiment of Merry Christmas, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black.

  1. This is beautiful, Jeanette! You did a lovely job on the ornament and tin, and I love the way you offset the panels of patterned paper on the front of the tin, and followed through with that on the center of your ornament. That adds such interest, and shows off that gorgeous paper so very well. Your placement of the embellishments is just beautiful, and I had to look twice, because I thought the reindeer was a stamp! Very well done, and such a pretty gift for someone very special!

    Love ya,
    Lorie

  2. Oh Jeanette, for the first time doing something like this, you hit these out of the park! They're fantastic and festive and fun! You did such a great job showing off the wonderful papers, and I love the surprise snowflake detail on the back of your ornament. And I'm with Lorie - I thought the reindeer panel was a stamped image! Great job with the kit! {hug}

  3. Wooooowee! You took this challenge and hit the ground running! You have done a stand up job with this kit this month, and for your first time "altering a tin", you wouldn't know it! I love the creative touch and it has your "touch" all over it! I love your style and think I could pick it out of a line-up :) Amazing detail, love the bling and the reindeer is too, too cute - well done, Jeanette! Thanks for taking this challenge with me this month!! x0x0

  6. WOW, they turned out just beautiful! I rarely ever alter anything because I always think it's so hard to do. I especially like how your ornament turned out, both sides are perfect. TFS!
