This week's challenge is an Inspiration Challenge

Here is my card:

This is the photo that was used for the Inspiration for my card:

To participate in this challenge all you have to do is look at the picture and start creating in whatever way the picture inspires you. Perhaps it's a snowman. Perhaps it's the colors. Perhaps it is the season of winer. Perhaps it's a little evergreen tree. You decide!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

I know it's still November. I know tomorrow is Thanksgiving. But at my house...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Therefore I am very excited about the Fresh Brewed Designs Challenge this week!!!

Theme: Winter/Christmas
November 24-30

To me, this theme calls for something warm (like a nice cup of coffee and warm/rich colors). It also reminds me of the real reason for the season - Jesus! Our family has a tradition that began when our children were just toddlers. Every Christmas season, we read the Christmas story from the Bible and remember the babe that was born long, long ago. Therefore, in keeping with our tradition, I used a not-so-Christmas type of image for my card.

Here it is:

The designer paper is a rich Christmas paper with pinecones, berries, and lush red/gold ribbon.

... the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:6b-7)

The design team actually created cards at the beginning of the challenge, but due to my travels, I was unable to do so at that time. Sooooooooooo I created one today!

DIGI - Digi's With Attitude, that is!

YAY!

This week's Digi's With Attitude Challenge is all about your Favorite Sports Team. Participants are asked to make a card for your favorite sports team or someone who loves sports.

RAH! RAH!

Here's my card:

Do you recognize those team colors?

To be quite honest, we aren't the sportsy type in our family. The last time I watched a game was over 5 years ago, when my daughter was in High School. (I went to the home football games then - to see her perform with the band at halftime.) Soooooooooooo my favorite sports team is pretty non-existent. Therefore I had to make a tough choice when it came to creating a card for this challenge.
I decided to do what my daughter did when her school (she's a teacher) encouraged everyone to wear the colors of their favorite teams during Spirit Week... she wore her Virginia Tech sweatshirt. Now, I don't want to mislead you, so I must tell you that my daughter did not attend Virginia Tech. She attended Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. Are you confused yet? She has a Virginia Tech sweatshirt because that's where her cousin - my niece - attended college. Tragically, she was one of the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting, so when we see red/orange, we remember a lovely young woman who is loved and missed by those who love her. My card is made in Austin's memory/honor.

Let It Snow!

Winter will be here sooner than we think so for this week's Chi Chi Memories Challenge creation (based on the sketch which can be found on the Chi Chi Challenge Blog), I chose a snowy scene.

Truthfully, I found this sketch a wee bit challenging.......hmmmmmmmm... I guess that's why they call this a challenge! I couldn't quite figure out how to make the image work with all those circles (there are 9 of them in the sketch). Sooooooooooo... I'm going to be checking out your creations and learning from you! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Thankfulness

Today is the 15th of November! YAY! That means it's the day when the Dueling Darlings are posting this month's creations.

This month the hostess of the Dazzlers is Michelle. She sent us the most awesome kits of paper-crafting fun! And a bit of a twist to the challenge, too. As we created our cards, we were asked to think about someone you are thankful for. In this season of Thanksgiving (we're just a little over a week away from the holiday) it is easy - and enjoyable - to think of those individuals for whom we are thankful. I'm not sure I can name just one!

1. My husband - He's my rock! He's the love of my life! He's my friend!

2. My children - They bring such joy to my life as well as laughter (and a few tears over the years, too). They are the icing on the cake! Life just wouldn't be the same without them!

3. My parents and my sister - They have helped me so often in my life and have always loved me (unconditionally)!

4. My friends - There are so many of them! Some in real life, some online friends! They bring so much joy to my life!

I could go on and on, but will stop there, before I get all teary-eyed and can't complete this post.

Now, on to the card I created:

Isn't Michelle's kit awesome!?!?!

Here are a couple of pictures to show some of the dimensional aspects of my card:

KitCats are Magical

The first Sunday of every month is very special to me. It's the day that the KitCats have committed to posting a project made with identical items. Susan was our hostess this month and WOWzer! You should see all the marvelous items she sent us in our packets. There were tons and tons of embellishments (I only used a few of them), luscious papers, and even a pocket calendar to alter, if we so chose.

Due to my traveling schedule, I didn't have as much time to work on this project as I wanted to, so I chose to do a card instead, since it's familiar territory and would take less time than the calendar. I'm sorry, Susan, because I really would have loved to WOW you.

The theme this month is Fantsasy, Whimsical, Magical, and Susan allowed us to choose our own images to use. I don't have many images in this category, so choosing an image was simple. I went with sn Inkadinkado fairy image from the Beautiful Fairies set.

To add some magical charm to this post, I took my photos outside... at a park in Kansas, where my daughter lives. Isn't it a gorgeous setting?

These two photos give you a closer look at some of the embellishments, pearls, ribbon, charms, crystal droplets, flowers... did I say WOWzer?

The pictures don't really show the sparkle of the image. I colored a lot of it with Copic Spica pens to make it shine/sparkle.

Be sure to check out what the other KitCats have created, too. I'm sure each one is amazing!

Whoo's Ready for a Treasure Hunt

Today I have a Treasure Hunt creation to share with you.

Here's the treasure I found at a recent yard sale:

Does anyone have an idea what it is?
It's a roll of veneer scraps, yep, real wood!
Cost - 50 cents

I used my Stampin' UP! Top Note die to cut a piece of wood for my card.

Although I love using designer papers, I chose not to use any on this card, allowing the wooden piece to be the main background for the owl image.

What a hoot!
