Chipboard is NOT my friend!
Eek! This was my first attempt at using chipboard... and I found it to be quite challenging!
I'm in my friend LJ's swap, the one that requires chipboard as one of the elements of the card. Whatever was I thinking when I signed up for that?!?!?
First I had a difficult time even deciding what chipboard to buy/use. I finally decided to go with Stampin' UP! cuz my daughter loves owls and Stampin' UP! had the cutest owl chipboard.
Then I had to decide how to decorate the chipboard. To be quite honest, I should have done some research, cuz I later learned I could have simply inked the chipboard. But no! I thought I had to cover it with paper. I used all kinds of files, sandpaper, even sharp scissors to get the edges smoothed. It took forever!
The rest of the card was pretty basic for me. A little embossing with my Cuttlebug embossing folder. A little punching with my punches. A couple of brads to create highlights for the eyes.
Hmmmmmmmmmm... wonder when I'll be foolish enough to try using chipboard again?
This is SO cool!
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think you were foolish at all, because this is great! It's a good thing I read the entire post, though, because all silly me could think was how on earth did she do that? I was convinced by just looking at this that the owl was embossed!! That paper is great, and! looks so 3-dimensional I bet it was tricky getting all those tiny curved edges sanded off! Kudos to you, though, because you pulled this off fabulously!! :-)
ReplyDeleteJeanette - this is absolutely adorable! I love the paper-covered owl. TOOOOO CUTE! Doing Happy Dance that I get one of these! Thank you so much for joining my swap!

Oh Jeanette! This is adorable!! I couldn't even bring myself to load the ones I made onto my blog or in my gallery :( You did a wonderful job!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJeanette! I think it is soooo cute! I'm not that good with chipboard. I feel for ya having to smooth all those edges! Wow...what a job. :)
ReplyDeleteChipboard terrifies me - LOL... I have some and now you've inspired me to actually do something with it! Love your little hooter - teehee...
ReplyDeleteJeanette, I think you did a *great* job with the cute chipboard owl and love how you used brads for his eyes on this cute card. You've inspired me to conquer my own fear of chipboard and use some on my next card! LOL {hug}
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! Look at this lil guy! He's adorable! I hope you made one for your dd! (and ROFL at Miche up above, lolol!) You really conquered the chipboard, m'friend!
ReplyDeleteSorry you had some frustration with this, but I have to tell you I am glad that you gave it a try! I think next time you will enjoy it even more. ;)
ReplyDeletethis is a really cute card, and I love the paper you used on the owl! I'm sure your fellow swappers will love it!
Blessings to you on this beautiful Sunday.
